Comments Off on LEVA-EU to Host Info-Session on Standardisation at International Cargobike Festival

At the International Cargobike Festival (ICBF), LEVA-EU will host a free information session on standardisation on Friday 25 October from 12:00 to 14:00. The meeting is free of charge for all interested professional visitors and press, but for practical reasons registration here, https://shorturl.at/6lVzJ, is required. The session will guide participants through the intricacies of standardisation, including how standards are developed, approved, and connected to legislation, as well as how companies can get involved in the process.

The aim of this meeting is to familiarise participants with all aspects of standardisation. Attendees will learn how standards are developed and approved, how they relate to legislation, and how companies can be directly or indirectly involved in the standardisation process. In addition, LEVA-EU will provide a comprehensive overview of the current standards for e-carrier cycles.

The new Machinery Regulation and Battery Regulation issued by the EU last year will also be discussed. The meeting will explain how these regulations intersect with existing standards. Moreover, under the new Battery Regulation, the European Commission has tasked CENELEC with developing a series of new standards for batteries used in light transport vehicles. These as well as the amendment to EN15194 for EPACs, which introduces new battery requirements, will also be covered. Attendees will have ample time to ask questions.

In addition, with the support of SBS, LEVA-EU has published a detailed briefing on standardisation. This document is available for free via this QR code.

LEVA-EU will be present at ICBF on both days with at booth. Don’t hesitate to come and visit us if you have any questions about electric carrier cycles or light electric vehicles in general, about LEVA-EU membership or about rules and legislation. On Thursday, both LEVA-EU technical director Bram Rotthier and LEVA-EU manager Annick Roetyck will be present, on Friday Annick Roetynck only. 2. New Utrecht venue and dates for ICBF 2024

Comments Off on New Utrecht venue and dates for ICBF 2024

The International Cargo Bike Festival will take place on 25-26th October at Jaarbeurs Utrecht

The International Cargo Bike Festival (ICBF) has announced its 2024 edition, which will be held at Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, Netherlands, from October 25-26. This marks the festival’s first time in Utrecht, a city celebrated for its robust cycling culture and cargo bike-friendly infrastructure. The event will be held independently, rather than as part of a larger conference as in previous years, yet it will still align with Dutch Cycling Week, an initiative promoting cycling across the Netherlands.

Jaarbeurs, located in the heart of Utrecht, offers an ideal venue for the festival, with ample space for exhibitions, test tracks, and networking opportunities. The festival will showcase the latest innovations in cargo bikes, reflecting their increasing importance in sustainable urban mobility. Attendees can expect a dynamic program that includes demonstrations, discussions, and opportunities for both industry professionals and the public to engage with the latest trends in cargo biking.

ICBF 2024 aims to further the conversation on the role of cargo bikes in transforming urban transportation. With Utrecht as its new home, the festival is poised to attract a broad audience, from local enthusiasts to international stakeholders, reinforcing the city’s status as a leader in cycling innovation.

The International Cargo Bike Festival (ICBF) has announced its 2024 venue and dates: it will take place in Utrecht, the 4th largest city in the Netherlands, 40 km south of Amsterdam, where the ICBF 2023 event was held.

Utrecht has a population of 360,000 and is known for being an important hub for national & international transport networks. It’s a globally renowned bike-friendly city that has admirable cycling infrastructure, including its multi-storey bike parking facility, which is reportedly the largest in the world.

ICBF says Utrecht is one of the most cargo bike-friendly places in the world and it can’t wait to show everyone on a global stage. The city has numerous cargo bike schemes, and many of its citizens use this mode of transport.

    New venue, new partnerships

ICBF’s 2023 event was hosted at the same location as Fully Charged’s Home Energy and Electric Mobility show, but they will not be collaborating for this year’s event due to a date change for Fully Charged’s show, making ICBF a standalone event for 2024.

The International Cargo Bike Festival has also announced that it will be working with Dutch Cycling Week for 2024, and exploring more of its possibilities in the years ahead. Dutch Cycling Week is a Utrecht-based cycling knowledge platform that aims to become the world’s largest platform for increasing bicycle awareness levels, policy making and usage.

ICBF has confirmed there will be plenty of opportunities at the 2024 show for cargo bike and cycling-related companies to showcase their offerings through its expo, test-track, presenting on stage, or numerous online and offline sponsorship and promotional options that are on offer.

    Save the dates

The ICBF team are compiling information to release to visitors and exhibitors as soon as they can, and in the meantime invites everyone to stay updated by signing up to its mailing list, and keeping an eye on ICBF Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads and Twitter social media channels.

Previous 2023 show presentations can be viewed on YouTube. ICBF also looks forward to unveiling a new website revamp and rolling out the 2nd issue of its own magazine, Carrier. Carrier Issue 01 can be accessed here.

Nieuwsfiets nieuws world of e-mobility 2

The International Cargo Bike Festival, including the LEVA-EU session were part of the World of eMobility (WOE), which was announced as a meeting place for alle stakeholders in the eMobility industry. According to Nieuwsfiets.nu, the World of E-Mobility deserves a chance. Compared to last year, the mobility fair has made some serious progress and organiser Rick van Rijthoven has managed to get a nice delegation from the e-(cargo)cycle and light electric vehicle (LEV) industry on board.

The automotive sector and the LEV industry have been growing closer in recent years, especially since the electrification of vehicles is gaining momentum. Van Rijthoven is adequately responding to this development with the set-up of World of E-Mobility. A year ago, the business fair took a false start, partly caused by Corona. Attendance was low and shortly before the fair, a number of exhibitors dropped out. In the run-up to the second edition, the organiser promoted the event relentlessly, especially through LinkedIn. He rigged up a broad programme of lectures and presentations and integrated the International Cargo Bike Festival into his fair. The efforts resulted in an event that grew both in size and number of exhibitors.

Among LEV-exhibitors at World of E-Mobility positivity prevailed and they felt that Van Rijthoven’s initiative deserves a chance. The fair offered a wide variety of electric vehicles, ranging from e-cycles to agricultural vehicles and everything in between. That wide range of offerings meant that visitors were also from very diverse backgrounds. The fair has widely varying starting points and, as a result, exhibitors also got visitors to their stands who were less relevant to them. On the other hand, they could come into contact with interesting visitors they would never have met otherwise. “It is a fair that cannot be compared to any other and so it takes some getting used to. We will now take stock of the results for our company, which will determine whether we will come back next year. Of course, this fair has room for improvement, but it is a new initiative that deserves a serious chance,” said one of the exhibitors from the e-cycle industry, therewith expressing the opinion of many other participants.
