Following four successful years of organising its Benelux-focused B2B FESTIVAL, the bicycle media has announced plans to organise a new international trade show. If sufficient support is established, it is anticipated to take place October 6-8 2027 at Expo Greater Amsterdam in Vijfhuizen.

CycleExpo Amsterdam is being promoted as the new alternative global cycling industry event, with manufacturers and supplies from across the world being invited to take part in the event, which has close proximity to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, with the location being as convenient as possible for visitors and exhibitors.

Organisers Arnauld and Rick Hackmann said the following about the exhibition location’s logistically convenient location:

“The distance between Schiphol and Expo Greater Amsterdam is only 16 km, you can’t get any closer. And Amsterdam is also very close, so the hotel options are endless.”

An event to support the global bicycle industry in a tough market

Hackmann explained that the concept of CycleExpo Amsterdam is to be an affordable meeting place for the global bicycling industry, after experiencing difficult market conditions in the past few years. With Nieuwfiets’ regional trade show B2B FESTIVAL, it facilitated exhibitors in saving costs and only needing to bring minimal items with them. The organisers plan to adopt a similar approach for CycleExpo Amsterdam.

“International trade has been struggling for years, putting pressure on all sorts of budgets. This reality cannot and should not be ignored. That’s why we opted for Full Service Stands, which offer exhibitors a complete presentation solution, including printed backdrops, so they can all have their own unique look and feel. You don’t have to make huge investments for that. We’ve had good experiences with these Full Service Stands over the past four years at our local trade show, B2B FESTIVAL. Exhibitors need to bring relatively few items with them to present their products in an attractive and professional manner. This allows them to save on the costs of building their own stands.”

An opportunity to experience Dutch cycling culture

The exhibition will enable visitors to experience Dutch cycling culture, with the Netherlands being one of the few countries where cycling is deeply integrated into daily life.

Hackmann states that having the new international event in the Netherlands is a logical choice:

“Exhibitors have the opportunity to explore the area around CycleExpo Amsterdam on their own and experience the unique Dutch cycling culture firsthand. It’s actually only logical that an international bike show should be organized from the Netherlands. Of course, there are already renowned international bike fairs, but we believe a new alternative is definitely in the pipeline.”

    Anticipating global bicycle industry support

The organisers have clarified that support for CycleExpo Amsterdam will be examined. If there is enough interest, the show is expected to commence on Wednesday, October 6, 2027.

“We hope to start with around 200 international exhibitors and grow from there. Four years ago, we launched the B2B FESTIVAL in a similar way,” says Hackmann, about his event expectations.

“Especially because the target audience is completely different. With the B2B FESTIVAL, we focus on bicycle retailers from the Netherlands and Belgium, but with CycleExpo Amsterdam, we’re targeting the entire international bicycle industry: manufacturers, buyers, product managers, you name it. We’re organizing this new, alternative meeting point specifically for them.”

  4. NieuwsFiets.nu DealerTrip 2023: destination Portugal

    Source: NieuwsFiets.nu

The NieuwsFiets DealerTrip is back on the agenda and will travel to Bike Value in Portugal from 8 to 15 January 2023. As the registration period is much shorter than usual, this is a trip for quick decision-makers!

As travel restrictions have been considerably relaxed again, the new NieuwsFiets.nu ‘DealerReis’ will travel to Portugal next year. This trip will take place in January, and due to the rapid approach of the date, interested entrepreneurs will have to decide quickly. It is certain that it will again be an exciting professional trip, heading to the beating heart of the Portuguese bicycle industry. The program of factory visits is currently being finalized, but visits to companies such as SRAM, Polisport/Bobike, Miranda, and Fritz Jou (producer of QWIC, among others) have been confirmed.

DealerTravel to Vietnam is too risky due to corona

The last NieuwsFiets.nu DealerReis took place in 2019 when travel to China was still possible. A trip to Vietnam was originally planned for 2020, but disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic has delayed this visit. “That trip has been postponed twice and was in principle planned for November this year. And although it is currently possible to travel to Vietnam, I think it is too risky,” says organizer Arnauld Hackmann. “Suppose COVID-19 flares up again and Vietnam starts re-instituting quarantine rules, then we have a big problem. I first want to see how things are going there in the coming months, but Vietnam will definitely remain on the wish list for the near future.”

Portugal: The main production location in the EU bicycle market

In addition to NieuwsFiets.nu, Hackmann also organizes dealer trips for the German trade magazine Velobiz.de. Editor-in-chief Markus Fritsch proposed the idea of visiting Portugal as an alternative to Vietnam, which has Bike Value in Agueda, where a lot of the bicycle industry is located. “The first discussions were held during Eurobike. November, the month in which the trips normally take place, was not feasible, so we opted for the beginning of January,” explains Hackmann. “An additional advantage is that this trip is a lot cheaper than the Asia trips of the past.

The northern Portuguese metropolis of Porto is one of the most beautiful cities on the Iberian Peninsula. In addition, the port city is now an important center of the European bicycle industry; more than one-fifth of bicycles produced in Europe roll off the assembly line in Portugal. The country on the Iberian Atlantic coast has thus developed into the most important production location in the EU bicycle market. In addition, Portugal is an important location for the production of bicycle frames and other parts.

With the NieuwsFiets.nu DealerTrip 2023, travelers take a look behind the factory gates of eight companies that produce in Portugal from 8 to 15 January. Of course, getting to know the destination’s culture and people is not neglected during this time. During the 8-day trip, there is extensive of opportunity for dealers to network and exchange experiences.

Registration is open until 1 November 2022
