Cowboy is growing rapidly as we launch our product internationally and scale the team in all areas. To support that growth, we’re looking for an organised and enthusiastic individual to join us as a Senior Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity reporting into the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Management of end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) processes (procurement through to payment) for all Cowboy operations
  • Working in partnership with all Cowboy Departments to optimise procurement and payment processes to ensure efficient and well controlled operations, and to ensure Cowboy achieves value for money in all purchases
  • Establishing and enforcing appropriate policies and management controls relating to procurement and payment activity within Cowboy
  • Driving automation of existing manual AP processes to improve controls and productivity of AP processes
  • Optimisation of accounting and tax (VAT) treatments for all AP activities
  • Working closely with heads of other Finance teams including Tax, FP&A and ERP implementation

Initially the role involves a lot of hands-on tasks (listed below) but we are looking for someone to come in, understand our process, and then improve them where possible.

Tasks

  • Performing day-to-day accounting operations to a high degree of accuracy and speed.
  • Upload AP invoices in the system
  • Processing accounts payable ensuring timeliness, the accuracy of information
  • Analyse and clear the AP vendor ledger
  • Make sure that the raw material invoices are correctly booked in line with the P2P process
  • Issue and book Manual credit notes in Odoo
  • Managing supplier’s & internal employee expenses
  • Ensure the travel and expenses policy is followed accurately
  • Ensure timely payment of invoices
  • Support month-end closing activities
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual audit
  • Ensure that accounting procedures comply with Belgian Gaap
  • Assist with accounting project
  • Handling ad-hoc requests as needed.

Who we are looking for:

  • Background in Accounting (degree and previous work experience)
  • Strong experience with Belgian GAAP
  • Proven experience improving finance processes, and automating manual tasks
  • In depth, expert level knowledge of Accounts Payable and understanding of the links into the wider finance function
  • Thorough understanding of VAT rules
