Platform Engineer, Dott – Paris (FR)

About the job

Here at Dott, we believe in a future where our cities are free from cars and pollution. With our on-demand e-bikes and e-scooters, we want to help co-create liveable cities where space is given back to people. We dream of cities where it is easy to move from one place to another with less congestion and more socialisation. All work we do is to continue reaching for our mission, to free our cities with clean rides for everyone.

Though founded in Europe, our passionate, mission-driven people come from over 55 countries globally. With such representative employees working in over 9 countries, we can better meet our users’ diverse needs. We collaborate with each other, transportation providers, and city officials to ensure what we do today has a tangible impact on tomorrow. Moreover, each employee is equally invested and accountable for making each decision socially and environmentally sustainable.

You’ll be contributing to the Platform team by enabling all engineering teams with the best technologies to make our internal and external applications available to deliver a Shared Mobility service. The mission of the team is to build a self-service platform enabling developers to be as autonomous as possible. We see the other engineers as our ‘customers’. You’ll be reinforcing a team of five people on many domains such as infrastructure management, developer experience, observability, architecture and security.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build and maintain Dott’s engineering platform, empowering all our engineering teams, mobile, frontend and backend. Our platform is currently hosted on GCP with private GKE clusters using tools such as Istio and ArgoCD.
  • Improve the software delivery lifecycle to keep a high level of quality with a great velocity by having processes from development to production. From providing reusable GitHub Workflows to improving testing with ephemeral environments.
  • Find the best solutions available for our current problems by testing state-of-the-art technologies such as Config Connector or Connect Gateway
  • Contribute actively to the vision and roadmap of the platform team.
  • Closely collaborating with other engineering teams in order to assist them in the use of the platform, but also gather their needs to define the roadmap.
  • Make sure that systems are in place to monitor the availability of all our services 24/7 using for example Grafana and Prometheus.

What You’ll Need

  • Strong knowledge on system architecture with experience with at least one programming language
  • You master at least one cloud provider
  • You’ve already experienced cloud native technologies in production
  • Knowing how to deal with CI/CD pipelines and release processes
  • Comprehension of observability on backend services, but also frontend with real user monitoring
  • Collaborative skills to empower other engineers, not block them
  • Curiosity with an open mindset to overcome our challenges, and proactivity finding solutions
  • Always open to feedback to always improve our platform
