Head of Marketing Communications VanMoof – Amsterdam (NL)

As VanMoof’s Head of Marketing Communications, your focus will be to make VanMoof an iconic, highly visible, and accessible global brand by leading our marketing strategies, brand building, product marketing, and marketing activation to propel VanMoof through its next phase of growth.

As our Head of Marketing Communications, you’ll report directly to the CMO and be a part of VanMoof’s marketing leadership. You’ll be responsible for dissecting marketing challenges, distilling the essential jobs to be done, and identifying critical user insights that define and drive the marketing strategy agenda globally and across priority markets. You’ll lead a team of cross-functional communications experts, cultivate new capabilities, while overseeing our product marketing and pricing strategies, driving customer acquisition, referrals and retention. 

Our ideal candidate is comfortable and experienced in leading central and matrix teams and is an expert in the academics of marketing strategy. You have experience with scaling a brand, and a proven track record in successfully translating global strategy to local marketing.  You have a bias for data-driven decision making and intuition and passion for creativity. And most importantly, you’ll bring an enthusiasm for marketing and a desire to make an impact in the company.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll lead teams of communications experts and local marketing leads in core markets (in some cases you will be building teams from scratch).
  • You’ll lead our product marketing capability and oversee the development of our product, messaging, and pricing strategies as well as translate global strategy into local marketing plans. 
  • You’ll cultivate user insights, conduct market analyses, and distil core marketing challenges into a precise brand and product marketing strategies designed to drive long term business growth.
  • You’ll oversee and lead development and implementation of strategically sound, integrated marketing communications campaigns from strategy and brief development through execution and measurement, working closely with cross-functional teams of internal stakeholders and other strategic partners.
  • You’ll build and manage a marketing process to develop, test, and measure creative campaigns (with a focus on experimentation).
  • You’ll help establish a research foundation for brand-building including the definition of our audience segments, category entry points, and development of brand tracking and measurement.
  • You’ll work closely with our Brand Lead to create a strategy for fostering meaningful brand differentiation and consistency across the VanMoof brand experience, brand communications and brand action, bringing VanMoof to a global stage and positioning the brand as a mobility leader.
  • You’ll manage the business case for brand investment and track and report on progress against objectives.

What you’ll bring:

  • You have at least 12 years of demonstrated success building great brands preferably from scale up to maturity (including at least five years client-side).
  • You have a great portfolio of world-class creative work.
  • You have experience shaping go-to-market strategies and launching new product features, programs, and initiatives.
  • You’re experienced in building and leading high-performing, high-creativity teams.
  • You have a disposition toward using market & customer data, research, and experimentation to drive outstanding results.
  • You’re an exceptional communicator with a bias to action, an agile and creative problem solver, highly organized, and are able to build strong partnerships across functions.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful recommendations and action plans.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and can prioritize and advance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You’re able to influence at all levels, especially senior stakeholders, and work effectively across functions and geographies.
  • You have a strong creative and analytical mindset, carrying a passion for hands-on ideation, words and design as well as a solid grasp of data-driven decision-making.
  • You have excellent presentation and English communication skills (verbal and written).
