For once people come first in insurance by fairly sharing the cost amongst each other. We exist to rewrite the rules of insurance so it’s something people stand with, not against.

Our model: Laka makes sure everything runs smoothly for The Collective – with exceptionally fast claims, splitting the cost fairly, guaranteeing a maximum price and all the other heavy lifting of a regulated insurance business. For that service, the collective pays Laka a fee relative to the claims in a month.

🤘🏼 The role

This role provides critical support to lots of people across the business – primarily split between Finance and Operations.

The purpose of the role is to take ownership of multiple operational tasks, in order to enable the teams around you to deliver their work effectively.

You will communicate widely across the business, with people from all teams and levels, including our exec team. You’ll report into the Finance Manager and work very closely with the Head of People.

We’re looking for someone super passionate, who enjoys building relationships, getting connected to people and creating an atmosphere of fun.

Finance

  • Processing supplier and ad-hoc payments, bookkeeping and bank reconciliations for Operational Expenditure using Spendesk and Xero
  • Assisting with daily claim payments, keeping reconciliations updated and resolving discrepancies
  • Processing payments for employee reimbursements
  • Acting as the first point of contact for external queries to the Finance mailbox
  • Working with the Sales team on monthly commercial billing, preparing invoices, statements and subsequent credit control
  • Preparing and developing periodic internal departmental and external partner reporting
  • Fixed asset and inventory management

Operations

  • Making and managing travel bookings, including flights and accommodation – both on a regular basis and for larger events
  • Supporting with the administration for new joiners, including equipment ordering
  • Ad-hoc assistance tasks as required, e.g. diary management and meeting room bookings
  • Manage general office administration and upkeep across all Laka offices, including consumables and equipment
  • Be the point of contact for Laka’s offices as required
  • Assist with preparation of our fortnightly All Hands meeting, including equipment set-up and gathering of content

Requirements

👉🏻 This role will be a great fit if you:

  • Have already spent some time in a Finance / Operations role before, ideally in a growing start/scale-up
  • Like working with different stakeholders daily, prioritising various work streams effectively
  • Can communicate effectively, to a wide variety of audiences
  • Have an outstanding ability to network and build relationships at various levels in the business
  • Are a self-starter and like getting “stuck in” – we’d love to see you take the initiative and seek out problems to be solved
  • Have experience using tools like Google Sheets & Slides, Notion, and similar

Location: Laka works primarily on a remote-first basis, however we feel that this role would benefit from being based in our London office (London Bridge) 3 days per week.
