Fabrics/Trim Developer Softgoods 80%-100%

You will be part of SCOTT’s fabric/trim experts and work in a passionate product development team for Bike/Running/Wintersport softgoods products. In close collaboration with designers, product developers and product managers you are responsible to research, develop, approve and specify fabrics and trims that meet company and market needs. In addition, you understand SCOTT’s quality and performance requirements and are able to establish new requirements as new needs and opportunities are presented to the business. You will work closely with our manufacturers in Asia & Europe including onsite trips.

Tasks:

– Responsible for fabric and trim related tasks

– Source in-time the fabrics/trims based on product manager’s briefing (incl. price points)

– Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships

– Create and maintain a fabric/trim management system (fabric/trim database) across the softgoods division

– Actively follow fabric/trim trends and visit of fabric fairs

– Work closely with our international offices

– Ensure that all fabrics/trims adhere to SCOTT quality standards and organize testing’s if required

– Ensure to reduce leftover fabric/trims based on fabric planning

– Support fabric and trim calculation’s and prebooking

– Manage of fabric/trim quality issue

– Support the Scott sustainability strategy “Re-Source by Scott”

– Data management of relevant fabric/trim data in the PLM system

– Request and approve Lab dips for fabrics/trims

– Check and approve shipping samples and reference samples

We expect:

– Degree in textile/garment engineering or at least 3 years’ experience in fabric/trim development, fabric/trim testing, fabric/trim sourcing

– In-depth knowledge in performance textiles

– Proven experience traveling to and working in mills and factories worldwide in an independent and self-motivated manner

– Experienced on working with a PLM system, good skills in Microsoft-Office & Adobe Illustrator

– Good negotiation and strong problem solving skills

– Fluent business English & very good knowledge of German or French with an extensive technical vocabulary

– Willingness to travel

– Interest for sports
