Source: Eurobike – The meeting point for cycling tourism in the bicycle industry is on the move and cycling tourism has been more popular than ever since the beginning of the pandemic. The best conditions for discussing recent developments with the tourism and bicycle industry, media and bloggers at the 20th EUROBIKE TRAVEL TALK on September 3, 2021 at Messe Friedrichshafen.
At least since the pandemic-related travel restrictions, vacationing just outside one’s doorstep has become a megatrend. The term micro adventure can be used to summarize the exploration by bike in people their own environment, both on and off paved roads.
While the tourism industry is struggling with opening strategies, hygiene rules and occupancy capacities in order to guarantee its customers an attractive and safe holiday, the sales figures for “new” and fun-promising types of cycles such as gravel bikes, e-MTBs or cargo cycles are exploding. What role does cycle tourism play for a safe holiday and does the trend towards micro-adventures offer sustainable prospects for tourism?
Project must have an innovative character, serves to transfer knowledge and offers added value for the entire industry.
