Electric moped and motorcycle registrations in the EU: up 30% in Q2 2017

Source ACEM – Whilst total registrations of mopeds and motorcycles decreased by 3% in the second quarter of 2017, compared to the same period in 2016, registrations of electric L-category vehicles increased by 30.5% to a total of 13,089 units.
The main markets for electric mopeds are France, the Netherlands and Belgium. However, there are no statistics available for the German market. Numbers for electric motorcycles are still very limited. The main markets here are France, Spain and Germany.
A total of 10,204 electric mopeds and 1,995 electric motorcycles were registered in Europe (+78.1% and +23.5% respectively), whilst figures for electric quadricycles went down from 3,232 in Q2 2016 to 1,610 units in Q2 2017 (-50.2%). The biggest losses occured in Sweden (-85%), Italy (-63%), France (-61%) and Germany (-35%).
