Lode Keppens, son of Tomas Keppens, the founder of LEVA-EU member Ellio, is part of the team claiming victory in the 2023 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge
Innoptus Solar Team, formed of engineering students from Belgium’s KU Leuven, had led almost all the way during the challenge’s course from Darwin in the north, to Adelaide in the south of Australia. Their recorded time of 34 hours, 4 minutes, and 41 seconds is 48 minutes faster than their previous 2019 win.
Their vehicle, Infinite, features a futuristic fin designed for stability, and was able to cope with the tough, windy conditions which proved challenging to other vehicles in the Projecta Challenger Class.
Event Director Chris Selwood AM congratulated the Innoptus Solar Team on their achievement: “This professional, innovative, and passionate team have always been strong competitors. Their hard work has paid off. They have competed in this event nine times, and they now have the ultimate reward.”
