The LEVA-EU member has issued an important safety notice, advising that there could be a risk of suspension fork failure in its ST3, ST5 and ST7 models. The recall is for approximately 6,500 WREN front suspension forks that are deployed on the specified Stromer models.

Stromer has reported that the suspension fork steerer tube can get fatigued prematurely and therefore crack, break or separate during usage. This means that riders could lose control of their bikes, resulting in a potential fall or injury.

The speed pedelec brand has stated that there has been 15 reports of suspension fork steerer tube failures, with eight customer injuries as a result of these failures.

Immediate stop of use – ST3, ST5 and ST7 Stromer models with WREN front suspension forks

Stromer advises all owners of these e-bikes to not use them until the WREN suspension fork has been replaced.

The affected bikes – what’s next

The 6,500 e-bikes that have been recalled have been sold mostly in Europe and the USA. Customers of the affected models will be notified by Stromer directly, and will be requested to verify whether they have had a WREN front suspension fork installed on their bikes.

Stromer has confirmed that replacement parts are being produced, and it will send out a notification when they are available (anticipated to be at the beginning of 2026), offering a free-of-charge repair of a suspension fork steerer tube that can be completed by an authorised Stromer dealer.

For any inquiries about this recall, customers are requested to contact safety@stromerbike.com.

Stromer sincerely apologises for this inconvenience and thanks all of its customers for their cooperation and understanding.

  2. Klever issues front fork recall

LEVA-EU member Klever Mobility has raised a safety risk warning about its Y-Muse 25, Y-Muse 45 and Model X bicycles from the model year 2020 onwards. Users are requested to stop using these models and take them to a Klever dealer to get a front fork replacement.

The warning follows a real-life incident, which consisted of the Spinner fork and aluminium steerer tube breaking under heavy loads. This can occur when the bike’s headset isn’t properly adjusted. Although the Spinner fork did pass all mandatory inspections with great results, Klever does not want to take any risks and has decided to replace the forks in question as a preventative measure.

Jan van der Ligt, the Manager Director of Klever Mobility Europe has said the following about the recall, “The safety of our Klever riders always comes first. That’s why we’re taking a comprehensive, preventative approach, even though the risk of fork breakage is virtually zero. We want both our dealers and end users to have complete confidence in our products.”

Klever owners can check if their bike is affected by the recall by entering its frame number on the following website page.

If affected, they are instructed to contact their local Klever dealer immediately.

The number of product recalls has been growing steadily over the past decade, with millions of non-food products recalled each year by manufacturers and suppliers on a voluntary or mandatory basis. The product categories affected are quite diverse, ranging from electric and electronic devices, toys and childcare equipment, to sports equipment, bicycles, household appliances and automobiles.

The best thing about product recalls is not having one. Considering the rising popularity of Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs) as a means of transport and the complex regulatory landscape, product compliance and safety aspects should be high on the agenda of LEV producers, importers and distributors.

That is why LEVA-EU hosts a webinar on some best practices and insights in the field of product recalls, that could help you mitigate the risk of having a recall or ease the burden in case you have a recall. Topics include:
