After being unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year, T3 tested the LEVA-EU member’s flagship model of its new e-scooter series, describing it as having impressive performance, with great speed and affordability.
Xiaomi’s sixth generation line-up of e-scooters boasts an extensive five-model range of Scooter 6 Lite, Scooter 6, Scooter 6 Max and Scooter 6 Pro, with the Scooter 6 Ultra being its flagship model.
Scooter 6 Ultra
It has been designed as a scooter for off-road use, with large all-terrain 12-inch tyres for tackling uneven surfaces. This 34 kg model is believed to outperform the rest of Xiaomi’s 6th scooter series, with T3 publishing a comparison table of specifications for all 6th-series models.
Scooter 6 Ultra is equipped with a powerful 500W motor which brings up to 1200W of peak power, and can handle inclines of up to 25%.
Its 585Wh battery provides up to 75km (47 miles) of range, or 55km (34 miles) at a maximum speed of 25km/h (16mph).
For safer stopping, its front and rear wheels are both equipped with a swing arm suspension feature.
It features an advanced 3-inch colour display on the handlebars which indicates riding speed and modes, remaining range, alerts and has an accompanying app (for settings adjustment, real-time data viewing and locking the motor). For extra peace of mind, this scooter is compatible with Apple Find My for accurate tracking of its position in the event of theft.
The handlebars also feature a four-way control dial for adjusting driving mode, turning on the lights and indicator activation. Its throttle has a dual option of enabling twist or thumb control for the right-hand side.
For manoeuvrability, storage or charging, the scooter’s steering column can be folded down.
T3’s testing review
T3 Editor-in-Chief Mat Gallagher tested the model along the coast of Barcelona, Spain, on a combination of cycle paths, roads and tracks.
He was impressed with its aesthetics, especially its unique yellow finish, and highlighted its plush suspension, grippy tyres and wide footplate, which feels solid when standing on it.
In terms of speed, the e-scooter was described as being “pretty agile, even at slower speeds”, with Gallagher being able to navigate tight turns and challenging crossings. With its sport mode, the throttle catapults riders forward, requiring them to hold on to the scooter tightly. It is compliant with the maximum speed limit of 25km/h (16 mph) that’s required in most countries.
It was good on most surfaces, apart from loose sand, although it is thought that most scooters would find this type of terrain difficult.
T3 verdict
Gallagher summarises that the Xiaomi Scooter 6 Ultra “is a truly impressive electric scooter”, and described it as being great value for money and having highly competitive pricing compared to flagship models from other market players. He recommended that if users want a model that has a more subtle design, smaller tires and less power, the Scooter 6 Max may be a more suitable option.
Availability
This model is widely available, with private scooters in public areas being legal in most countries and states. Users are advised to check the regulations for their respective region. It can be purchased on the Xiaomi website.
