The LEVA-EU member’s side by side electric tandem was reported as being a recent star of the show at a Cycling Electric Demo Day in the UK.

When asked by media publication Cycling Electric about who the trike is aimed at, vanRaam dealer Bikeworks’ Jim Blakemore said that Fun2Go offers both “the social way to tandem”, and a solution for care homes and other similar facilities. The trike enables two people to cycle together, allowing for opportunities of direct communication as both participants are exercising.

Blakemore adds that the trike has brought meaningful value to social projects in London:

“We have been using these for a handful of London-based social isolation projects. The beauty of these bikes is that you have the ability to hold a conversation, and it reduces boundaries that a normal tandem has so you can soak up conversation while getting some exercise. We are going to scale using this trike to working with different groups, including those with dementia, for example.”

How the Fun2Go works

Cycling Electric stated that with the Fun2Go trike, vanRaam’s two-decade experience in innovating customised bicycles shines through.

It is equipped for two riders, with one lead rider steering and managing the brakes, and both riders being able to turn its cranks and shift gears.

The pedal-assist bike is equipped with a specialist vanRaam 3-mode motor, named “the silent system”, which does the heavy lifting, and has a reverse assist which can be activated by pedalling backwards slowly.

Fun2Go, which measures at 2 metres long and 113cm wide, can also have a tow-ball fitted, called the “FunTrain” which enables the fitting of the tandem with two extra trailer-based seats to make it a four-seater bike, with each rider having independent gearboxes to program their own resistance level.

Equipped with specialist seats, it has tilt-up armrests and supportive and adjustable mesh backs. They can also be customised to rotate, to help those with mobility challenges board the tandem easier.

In terms of carrying capability, it includes a wide front basket that can take 20 kg of luggage.

It also has optional independent eight-speed gearing, direction indicators, a mirror, a fixation vest and foot fixers, footplates or a walker holder.

Fun2Go customisable offering for various rider needs

Fun2Go offers custom configurations, which means it can be modified based on rider and passenger needs. It has a large battery which has an estimated range of 39 km, however this depends on many variables such as the weights of the riders and assist reliance.

The trike’s weight is 88.2 kg including its electrical system, but it can be purchased without pedal assist, which takes its weight down to 76 kg. In terms of load capacity, it reaches 280 kg.

Every vanRaam Fun2Go is custom made in the Netherlands and then shipped to customers via local dealers that can help customers with the customisation process.

Users in the UK can get more opportunities to test this model at further Cycling Electric Dealer Days this season.

More information about the Fun2Go can be accessed on the vanRaam website.

vanRaam dealer event

The company recently welcomed its Dutch and Belgian dealers to a special event which encouraged knowledge sharing, looking ahead and empowering all parties.

It walked partners through it latest developments, encouraged discussions with an interactive panel, as well as providing opportunities to test vanRaam bikes.

The occasion was a great event for the vanRaam network to meet and look ahead to a positive future together.
