The FITS project was recently approved for funding by the European Commission under Interreg Deutschland-Nederland, which will involve the LEVA-EU member collaborating with a variety of stakeholders, including healthcare organisations, municipalities, provinces, social mobility providers, research institutions, and a digital technology partner, to make shared mobility more accessible to a range of different user demographics, not just young urban users.

vanRaam’s Business Development Director, Marnix Kwant, explained that FITS represents a future of shared mobility being accessible to everyone, including those who cannot use conventional shared bicycles. The project is aiming to change typical use of shared bicycles being from young urban users, by optimising the accessibility of adapted vehicles such as tricycles, tandem bikes, rickshaws and wheelchair transport bikes for shared mobility.

Within the Interreg Germany–Netherlands region, the brand is jointly developing new shared mobility services and optimising existing cycle concepts with fellow lead partners, including Fietsmaatjes Brabant, Radeln ohne Alter (CWA), FH Münster, Provincie Overijssel, BeeManaged, Landkreis Vechta and Pflegebutler.

It will also work with associated partners, including: European Cyclists’ Federation, Fietsersbond, Dutch Cycling Embassy, nextbike, Nationale Vereniging de Zonnebloem, Trivelo, cargobike.jetzt, Düsseldorf teilt e. V, Zukunft Fahrrad, Doortrappen, Mpact and G-sport Vlaanderen.
