Belgian speed pedelec brand and LEVA-EU member Ellio has launched an updated version of its Jaws software, bringing riders enhanced braking control, a more natural riding feel, and greater energy management efficiency.
Braking power doubled
The update has doubled the strength of the regenerative back-pedal brake. As well as providing a more intuitive braking feel and greater control, the energy recovery function is enhanced, and the lifespan of brake components is extended.
New features introduced
When stationary, the pedal stays in its position, rather than sinking down, even with a foot placed on it. This is designed to simplify restarting in scenarios such as at traffic lights. Riders may experience a light ‘tapping’ feedback, which Ellio says is part of the design and not a cause for concern.
The battery charge indicator is now at the top left of the display screen, with a five-bar icon clearly indicating the charge level.
Maximum power can be maintained until the battery charge level drops to 20%, meaning that riders can ride on full power for longer than previously. (Ellio points out that this will of course affect achievable range.)
The cadence now automatically adjusts to the speed, meaning a smoother riding experience at lower speeds. In maximum support mode, the maximum force on the pedals has also been increased, which limits the need to ‘pedal through’.
The previously reported small power loss in certain scenarios has been resolved, enabling riders to enjoy stable and sufficient power assistance.
