The LEVA-EU member announced that the partnership with Circuit Zandvoort will involve the company’s e-bikes being available for corporate cycling tours.
The Dutch Formula 1 circuit at Zandvoort is now offering a unique option for companies renting the venue. Corporate groups can enhance their F1 experience with a guided cycling tour by testing high-quality Dutch-manufactured e-bikes on the official Formula 1 track. This initiative combines the excitement of the circuit with a focus on mobility, wellness, and team engagement.
This latest initiative enables Circuit Zandvoort to integrate corporate social responsibility and sustainability into a distinctive and memorable experience, and comes after its CEO, Robert van Overdijk, visited the Opmaet Fietsen site last month.
For the e-bike manufacturer, the collaboration with Circuit Zandvoort represents an opportunity to promote vitality, mobility, and enjoyment at one of the Netherlands’ most renowned racing locations.
Folding electric bike brand and LEVA-EU member Opmaet Fietsen has moved into new premises in Nijkerk, the Netherlands, marking the next step in the company’s growth.
The relocation is due to continued demand for electric bicycles, with the brand’s previous location now too small to meet rising needs. The new facility combines showroom, workshop and service operations, with all bikes assembled on-site. This not only ensures high product quality standards, but enables personal contact with customers at all stages.
The official opening took place on September 11, with Nijkerk Mayor Tinet de Jong leading proceedings alongside the owners of Opmaet, Stefan Schuurman and Olivier Parmentier, who said, “The move is an important step for us. We’ve literally outgrown our current premises and look forward to helping even more people discover the benefits of our bicycles from this location.”
The brand targets a broad audience with its electric folding bikes that are optimised for safety, comfort and ease of use, with a particular focus on the 50-plus demographic, enabling them to stay mobile. “We often hear that people are finding the courage to cycle again after years. For some, this even means a bit of regained independence,” say the Opmaet founders.
The brand is part of the Nijkerk Business Association and is committed to supporting the local community, sourcing suppliers and services in Nijkerk where possible, and offering workplace and training opportunities to students and employees in collaboration with Accent vocational training centre.
The LEVA-EU member announced that Robert van Overdijk, Chief Executive Officer of Circuit Zandvoort, has added one of its electric folding bikes to his personal transport options. The bike was customised to his specifications and delivered last month.
Van Overdijk is known for his role in successfully returning Formula 1 to the Netherlands after a 35-year absence, an achievement that placed Circuit Zandvoort back on the international motorsport calendar. His decision to select an Opmaet electric folding bike reflects a growing interest in compact, sustainable mobility solutions among professionals in the Netherlands.
Opmaet Fietsen, based in Nijkerk in the Netherlands, declared that the occasion marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration with Circuit Zandvoort.
LEVA-EU member Opmaet Fietsen has announced that it has moved its headquarters to a new location in Nijkerk in the Netherlands.
Opmaet Fietsen has announced that after a busy period of preparation, its staff have now moved into its new site at Arkerpoort 32 B in Nijkerk, and is also open for test drives, appointments and visitors.

Since 2018, Fietstest reviewers have been testing bicycles and offering an impartial verdict on product performance, value and quality to help customers make purchasing decisions. As of May 2025, Fietstest has reported that 1,900 of its members have tested 882 electric bicycles.

E-bike manufacturer and LEVA EU member Opmaet Fietsen has entered a partnership with Fietsreparatie.nu to provide expert assistance to its customers owning an Opmaet or Spark bike in the Netherlands.
It has been a busy month for the e-bike brand; after recently announcing its rebrand, Opmaet Fietsen has joined forces with professional bicycle maintenance and repair provider Fietsreparatie.nu to give its customers better access to independent bicycle mechanics, by offering home visits for optimal convenience.
Customers can simply submit a service request via the Opmaet Fietsen website for Fietsreparatie.nu to arrange an e-bike mechanic to visit them in the comfort of their own home.
The LEVA-EU member brand formerly known as Spark Bike has undergone a name change to Opmaet Fietsen, in a move that they say will better reflect the comprehensive service they offer for anyone looking for a safe, comfortable and perfectly fitting electric bicycle. Moreover, the new name is more apt for their status as a Dutch company that assembles its bicycles in the Netherlands.
LEVA-EU congratulates Opmaet Fietsen on the successful rebranding and continues to support them in ensuring their voices are heard by both EU and national policymakers.
The co-founders, Olivier Parmentier and Stefan Schuurman, shared insights into the reasoning behind the change of name, and updates on the company’s continued growth. They also invite anyone curious about their products to come to their showroom in Nijkerk for a test drive, and to discover how their customisation service can bring true cycling pleasure.

Why a new name?
“We used to be called Spark Bike: a nice name, but it no longer covers it completely. We are not just a bicycle brand, but a specialist in customization. With us, you can put together a bicycle that perfectly matches your wishes and riding comfort, so that you can enjoy every ride to the fullest.
“No standard ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution with us, but a bike that you can put together yourself. From a color that makes youhappy, to a handlebar and saddle that feel just right – your bike, your choices. All of that deserves a name that better reflects that. That is why we will continue as Opmaet Fietsen from now on.
“Moreover, a Dutch name fits much better with who we are: a Dutch company that assembles its bicycles in the Netherlands. We consciously choose high-quality, locally produced bicycles and no mass production from China. This not only gives us more control over the quality, but also makes it easier to deliver custom work.”
Opmaet Fietsen’s attention to detail
“Cycling is a pleasure for many, but not every standard bike fits everyone equally well. That is why we at Opmaet take the time to put together the perfect bike together with our customers. From a comfortable low step-through to a saddle that really fits well and pedals that match your way of cycling – everything can be customized. Do you need a medical adjustment? No problem, we offer more and more solutions that make cycling accessible to everyone.”
How is Opmaet Fietsen achieving growth in a changing market?
“The bicycle market is in full swing. While some brands are currently struggling, we are seeing enormous growth. We owe this to our fantastic customers, who appreciate the personal contact, reliability and customization of Opmaet. Our approach – where we not only sell a bicycle, but really make the best choice together with the customer – ensures that more and more people choose Opmaet. And we are proud of that!”
Dutch production and extensive service
“Where many bikes come from China, we consciously choose Dutch production and premium components. This not only ensures a reliable bike, but also makes customization much easier. In addition, we offer extensive service, we take the time for personal advice and customers can count on real involvement.”
Ensuring a reliable after-sales maintenance and repair service
“In addition, thanks in part to the use of premium components, we have found a perfect service partner with a nationwide network of mobile bicycle repairers, namely www.fietsreparatie.nu. This means that you can easily submit a request via our website, after which one of the service engineers will simply come to your home with a van.”
