The Belgian company is changing its delivery transportation mode to fully electric bikes to better facilitate parcel delivery. By the end of 2027, it will have stopped using traditional non-electric bikes altogether.
To support the transition, bpost will order only e-bikes from this year onwards for its mail carriers, with the company having placed an initial order of 440 e-bikes.
By using e-bikes, it is hoped that mail carrier rounds will be smoother, and with their ability to work with e-bike trailers that can carry up to 150 parcels, parcel delivery volumes can increase.
bpost’s fleet has been the largest in Belgium for years. Its fleet electrification has resulted in the use of approximately 3,000 electric vans, as well as 3,000 e-bikes in the coming months of 2026.
