Since 2008, the LEVA EU member has run the Micro Scooter Kids Day program, educating thousands of children on responsible road traffic behaviour in Switzerland. From August 2025, it will be handed over to the Kids-Sport association.
Micro Scooter, the Swiss brand that creates scooters for children and adults, has been playing its part in a nationwide initiative to sensitize children to traffic for many years.
To date, the Micro Scooter Kids Day program has equipped more than 82,000 young riders with essential coordination and road safety skills, making a significant contribution in improving road learning to help prevent accidents in Switzerland. Initiated and spearheaded by Micro Scooter’s René Lauper, the road safety workshops focus on interactive learning through balance and skill exercises.
Micro Scooter’s 90-minute workshops, which have been delivered directly in schools or at public events, have taught children essential safe road navigation skills with scooters. From braking techniques and cornering skills to recognizing potential road hazards, the program has focused on fostering not only safety but also the confidence needed to embrace scooters as a sustainable and practical mode of transport.
“For me, the Micro Scooter Kids Day was always more than just a project – it was a matter close to my heart. Seeing children gain safety, joy and self-confidence was my greatest drive. I am grateful that kids sports are now taking on a committed partner who shares and continues to share this vision.” said René Lauper.
After playing a significant role in training children on road safety with scooters for 17 years, Micro Scooter will be handing the project over to the Kids-Sport association, led by Gabi Schibler.
“Road safety is a topic that is very important to us at Micro. I’m proud that our program has reached so many children – and I’m delighted that it now has a strong new sponsor in Kids-Sport.”, says Wim Ouboter, Micro Founder & CEO
