The LEVA-EU member has been acquired by KYMCO’s current management team of Jan van der Ligt and Ruud Sjamaar, with the transfer of shares being completed on 21 July 2026. The move marks the start of a new chapter for Klever as an independently managed European organisation.

Together with the existing Klever team, Van der Ligt and Sjamaar will continue to strengthen the brand’s position as a specialist in speed pedelecs. Continuity is the top priority for dealers and Klever riders; service, warranty, and support will continue to be handled by the familiar Klever team.

At the same time, the new ownership structure gives Klever greater freedom to make independent decisions, respond more quickly, and address the specific needs of the European market more effectively.

“Over the past few years, we have steadily built up Klever’s presence in Europe,” says Ruud Sjamaar. “This acquisition gives us the flexibility to make decisions more quickly based on the needs of our dealers, riders, and the European market. For us, this is a logical and exciting next step.”

Jan van der Ligt adds: “For us, this move is about both continuity and future prospects. We are continuing with the same experienced team but with greater control over our operations in Europe. We have great confidence in the next phase and are keen to shape it in close collaboration with our dealer network.”

Klever thanks KYMCO for the close and constructive partnership maintained over the past ten years. That collaboration laid a vital foundation for Klever’s development and the position the brand holds in Europe today. With this acquisition, Klever is focusing entirely on the further development of its European organization and brand, in close cooperation with dealers and other partners.
