Freelance Membership Account & Growth Manager
About LEVA-EU
LEVA-EU is the only European trade association dedicated exclusively to Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs).
Our mission: We support and unite the Light Electrical Vehicle Industry. We advocate for fair legislation in Europe.
We believe in LEVs’ enormous potential to make mobility more sustainable and to help tackle climate change. LEVs include electric bicycles, speed pedelecs, e-scooters, self-balancing vehicles, electric mopeds and motorcycles, and electric 3- and 4-wheeled vehicles ranging from 25 to 120 km/h.
Unfortunately, much of this potential remains untapped due to inadequate legislation and standards. That is why we focus on two main activities:
- Providing our members – both within and outside the EU – with professional, in-depth advice on European and national legislation and rules relevant to their companies and products.
- Collaborating with European authorities to develop better-suited legislation for LEVs and promoting policies that encourage their use as sustainable transport. We work directly with the European Commission, Parliament, Council, and with CEN, ISO and IEC standardisation bodies.

The Role
We are looking for a motivated freelancer to join our small, mission-driven team as Membership Account & Growth Manager.
Your first mission will be to recruit new members for LEVA-EU, starting from a list of existing leads. Beyond recruitment, you will also work on improving our membership processes and on strengthening the value we offer to members.
As you grow into the role, your responsibilities will expand to:
- actively generating your own leads for potential members,
- building long-term relationships with members, and
- supporting and advising members on how European legislation, standards, and policies impact their business.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit new members starting from existing leads.
- Develop and improve membership recruitment strategies and processes.
- Analyse and enhance the benefits and services offered to our members.
- Maintain clear, professional and service-oriented communication with prospective and existing members.
- (Later stage) Generate new leads independently and build a pipeline of potential members.
- (Later stage) Advise members on the regulatory and standardisation framework for LEVs and help them understand the consequences of EU legislation and standards for their businesses.
- (Later stage) Contribute to LEVA-EU’s growth and stability by supporting organisational processes such as finance, operations and member services.
Profile
The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, strategic, and service-driven. You combine a passion for sustainable mobility with the ability (or willingness to learn) to understand the LEV ecosystem, European standardisation, and EU legislation. An engineering or technical background is a strong plus.
Must-haves
- You truly believe in a future where mobility is not only electric – it is light.
- You are able to dedicate sufficient time to LEVA-EU to fulfil this role on a long-term basis and to further grow into the position.
- Strong communication, persuasion and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to identify opportunities for membership growth and to improve internal processes.
- Able to work independently, take initiative, and make clear decisions.
- Affinity with European and international standardisation (e.g., CEN/CENELEC, ISO, IEC) and how standards affect product compliance and market access.
- Engineering background or strong technical literacy (able to understand specs, standards language, conformity requirements) and/or a demonstrable interest in EU legislation and policy-making.
- Go-getter attitude: eager to learn and willing to take on diverse responsibilities (e.g. member relations, recruitment, organisational support).
- Experience with organisational processes (operations, finance) or with developing membership services.
- Based in the European Union.
- Excellent command of English.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of the LEV sector and EU legislation, or willingness to learn quickly.
- Hands-on experience engaging with standardisation work (e.g., technical committees, working groups) and with conformity assessment (CE marking, type-approval).
- Knowledge of Dutch, French or any other EU language.
- Based in Belgium.
What We Offer
- Freelance collaboration with a fixed monthly fee plus commission on recruited members and membership renewal.
- Growth path: as the role evolves, the fixed fee will increase, reflecting added responsibilities.
- Flexible working arrangements: from our office in Ghent or remotely.
- Opportunities to attend international fairs (Eurobike, International Cargo Bike Festival, Taipei Cycle Show, …).
- A chance to actively shape the future of a fast-growing, sustainable mobility sector.
