Who we are

  • LEVA-EU, based in Gent (B), is a European trade association for companies in the sector of light, electric vehicles (LEVs): electric (bi)cycles, e-scooters, self-balancing vehicles, electric moped and motorcycles, electric 3 and 4-wheeled vehicles, etc.
  • LEVA-EU currently has more than 70 members in and outside the EU. LEVA-EU assists these members with professional and in-depth advice on European and national legislation and rules, which are relevant for their company/products.
  • LEVA-EU also works directly with European authorities for European legislation that is better suited for LEVs and for policies that encourage the use of LEVs as sustainable means of transport. LEVA-EU works with the European Commission, European Parliament, European Council as well as in the standardization institutes CEN, ISO and IEC.

What you’ll do:

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the LEVA-EU Manager to ensure smooth operations and provide valuable support across a variety of activities, including:

  • Membership support: Ensuring the timely and accurate handling of member requests and inquiries, including providing clear guidance on European and national rules and legislation impacting their businesses and products.
  • Monitoring policy developments: Tracking key European legislative initiatives, legislation and policies relevant to the LEV sector.
  • Writing briefings:
    • For LEVA-EU management: Summarising relevant initiatives, legislation and policy
    • For LEVA-EU members: Producing concise, clear and accessible updates on relevant European rules, legislation and policies.
  • Lobbying support: Assisting in advocacy efforts to influence policy and regulatory outcomes.
  • Data collection: Gathering and analysing data to support policy and lobbying activities.
  • Meeting preparation: Assisting in preparing agendas, materials and reports for internal and external meetings.
  • Conference participation: Attending and representing LEVA-EU at conferences, networking events and trade shows.
  • Trade show support: Facilitating LEVA-EU’s presence and participation in industry trade shows.

A minimum of 16-20 hours per week is required, though workload may fluctuate based on project demands. Flexibility is key, with quieter periods traditionally in July and August.

What You’ll Bring:

Must-haves:

  • Strong passion for sustainable mobility.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. European law, politics, or policy).
  • Knowledge of the European institutions and the EU policy-making process.
  • Impeccable spoken and written English.
  • Self-employed and VAT-registered.
  • Living within a commutable distance to Ghent and willing to work occasionally from our LEVA-EU office.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent organisational skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Interest or experience in light electric vehicles.
  • Additional languages beyond English.
  • Previous experience in EU affairs or a related field.
  • Availability to start immediately.
