LEVA-EU Assistant Policy Intern – Gent (B)

LEVA-EU, based in Gent (B), is a European trade assocation for companies in the sector of light, electric vehciles (LEVs): electric (bi)cycles, e-scooters, self-balancing vehicles, electric moped and motorcycles, electric 3 and 4-wheeled vehicles, etc.

LEVA-EU currently has more than 60 members in and outside the EU. LEVA-EU assists these members with profesionnal and in-depth advice on European and national legislation and rules, which are relevant for their company/products. LEVA-EU also works directly with European authorities for European legislation that is better suited for LEVs and for policies that encourage the use of LEVs as sustainable means of transport. LEVA-EU works with the European Commission, European Parliament, European Council as well as in the standardization institutes CEN, ISO and IEC.

You will support the LEVA-EU manager in the following activities:

  • monitoring all relevant European legislative initiatives, legislation and policy relevant for the LEV-sector
  • writing briefings for LEVA-EU management on relevant initiatives, legislation and policy
  • writing briefings for the LEVA-EU members on European rules, legislation and policies relevant for their business
  • support in lobby work
  • support in answering questions from LEVA-EU members on European and national rules and legislation concerning their business/products
  • support in data collection
  • support in the preparation of meetings
  • participation in conferences and networking events
  • support in LEVA-EU’s participation in trade shows 


  • Excellent knowledge of the European institutions and European policy-making procedures
  • Ideally Master EU Studies, alternatively Master International Politics
  • Native or near native English speaker, other languages are a plus
  • Impeccable spoken and written English
  • Affinity with and interest in sustainable mobility, interest in and knowledge of light, electric vehicles is a plus
  • Preferably living in Gent or in the vicinity of Gent
  • Immediately available
  • Excellent command of the Internet, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to work independently

Alternatively, for job students, we offer an hourly rate based on the pay scale of joint committee 2000 also with compensation for transport and use of own laptop and phone.
