On Thursday, October 24, Lodewijk van Nooten (Bikeshift), Michel van Eijnatten (Fulpra), and Jos Sluijsmans from the International Cargo Bike Festival (ICBF) will brief the logistics sector on challenges and solutions in last-mile urban logistics 🚲🌏. They will do so during an exclusive free event (2:30 PM – 6:00 PM) in Nieuwegein at LEVA-EU Member Fulpra, ahead of the International Cargo Bike Festival (October 25 and 26 at Jaarbeurs Utrecht). Feel free to join them from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM (including a networking reception). Register for free via the link below.
The event highlights the recently announced partnership between Bikeshift and Fulpra. The organizers see no obstacles as zero-emission city centers approach, but rather opportunities. Michel van Eijnatten from Fulpra says: “The transition to zero-emission urban logistics is essential for a sustainable future. However, it also presents challenges for the logistics sector. How can companies continue to meet the demand for fast delivery while reducing their ecological footprint? Bike couriers can navigate city traffic quickly and flexibly. With the right professional e-cargo bikes, they can carry surprisingly large loads. Safe and agile, they are the effective alternative to dirty diesel vans—and, in fact, to any delivery vehicle in the city, including electric ones!”
From Delivery Van to Bike
Bikeshift has been providing flexible staff for years, delivering meals, groceries, and packages on e-bikes and cargo bikes, and is optimistic about these developments. Lodewijk van Nooten from Bikeshift says: “Bike couriering is a specialty in last-mile urban logistics. Transitioning companies to a fleet of e-bikes, cargo bikes, and LEV vehicles instead of traditional delivery vans may also put some pressure on your existing workforce. Can, and do, these workers want to switch from vans to bikes? Or will you need to find new personnel? Only innovative solutions will make zero-emission city centers a success in the future.”
