The LEVA-EU member’s electric cargo bike is being used for an innovative project in the Dutch province of Flevoland. Thanks to the Techkwadraat educational initiative, it has been revamped into the innovative “Litter Factory” which will be used for technology education in Lelystad.

The Litter Factory, developed by Flevotech² with support from the Techkwadraat subsidy, is a mobile unit that will be used to inspire primary school students to engage with sustainability and circular technology through practical experience.

Demonstrating its versatility, Flevobike’s GoLo bike has been equipped with the Litter Factory unit that is detachable in under a minute. The unit consists of plastic shredders, an extruder for producing filament, alongside a Dutchy 3D printer. It also includes fold-out solar panels for delivering power to the bicycle’s electric motor, the filament system, and the 3D printer, resulting in a setup that’s self-sufficient and sustainable.

It was recently unveiled by staff and students from the local Porteum high school in a special presentation among other innovative Techkwadraat projects.
