For the third year in a row, EIT Climate-KIC and FedEx Express Europe have launched the Sustainable Cities Mobility Challenge 2025, encouraging European cities to propose initiatives that foster greener, healthier, and more people-focused urban mobility.
Eligible applicants include cities and towns with a population of at least 25,000 across EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries (excluding Canada and New Zealand).
This year’s challenge emphasises projects that prioritize active and healthy mobility by reclaiming street space and integrating green elements such as trees, planters, and small urban gardens. To qualify, projects must:
- Contribute to environmental protection, sustainability, climate action, and knowledge advancement for the common good.
- Serve the public interest.
The deadline for applications is 12 March 2025.
Winning projects will be selected based on their impact potential, educational value, and adaptability for other cities. Each chosen city may receive up to EUR 90,000 in funding, with a maximum of four projects supported.
