The ITDP and the Sustainable Transport Award Committee have invited nominations for the 2027 STA, which recognises cities or regions where new transport, street design or policy improvements have improved mobility and quality of life for its residents. Nominations will close on 22 May, 2026.

Judged by a committee of global experts in sustainable transport and development, the Sustainable Transport Award is a special acknowledgement of courageous work towards enhancing sustainable transportation from strategies which improve mobility for all residents, decrease transport-related greenhouse and air pollution emissions, and optimise access and safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Anyone who has city contacts and details of projects can submit a nomination, however standard applications normally come from government, civil society organisations and academic institutions.

After nominations close on 22 May, the finalists will be notified in June, when they will be requested to submit more information for review.

The winner and honourable mention cities will be selected and notified in August. The public announcement will take place in January 2027.
