A recently conducted market survey among 318 retailers by the Dynamo Retail Group, concludes that there is a huge growth on the Dutch e-bike market between January and September 2019. Driving factors behind this growth are good weather and a well-functioning economy.

Last year, a total of almost 410,000 e-bike were sold in the Netherlands. Based on the survey, there is an estimation that this number will grow to a volume of over 500,000 by the end of 2019. Also, the e-bike share as part of the entire bike market is expected to grow from 40% last year to almost 50% in 2019. From a long-term perspective, since 2011 the share of e-bikes is growing gradually, while the share of conventional bikes is declining.

The average price of a bike was just over €1,200 and the total bike market had a value of €1,2 billion in 2018.  E-bikes generated a big part of that total value, i.e. €823 million which result in a share of almost 67,5%. Projections for 2019 show that e-bikes generate a value share of up to or even over 70%.
