The

The company Podbike®AS was founded in 2016 by Per Hassel Sørensen and Anne-Lise Heggland. Podbike AS offers an active, zero emission and sustainable transport solution. The Podbike velomobile represents the next generation e-assisted vehicle that makes cycling attractive for more people, merging safety and comfort with the benefits from cycling. It is a mobility solution providing a healthy alternative to cars in urban areas.

During product development, the focus has been on how to make an EU-legal electrically assisted velomobile suitable for the masses. Podbike FRIKAR® is a four-wheeled e-bike specially designed to meet the high demands of today’s consumers on design, comfort, functionality and safety. Currently, we have more than +3600 pre-orders and production is expected to start in 2022.

Activity Description

We manufacturer the Podbike FRIKAR® that is a four-wheeled e-bike with full weather protection, seating one adult and a child with el-assist up to 25 km/h. No license needed, classified as a cycle within Europe. With the same width as a regular bike trailer, you can use it wherever you would use a regular bike.

FRIKAR® is an all-year-round e-bike designed to mate comfort and practicality of cars with the health and environmental benefits of cycling. FRIKAR® can be delivered with various options including child seat, window wiper/washer, carrying bag of winter tyres on wheels, trailer hitch, heater and blower, etc.

Awards

Greentech Challenge2018- Greentech Challenge was launched in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2015. The four-day growth program aims to make green business good business by helping sustainable green tech startups in Europe to succeed globally. Podbike was awarded to attend the program as one of 12 start-ups for the Oslo program.

EIT Climate-KIC2016 – Bootcamp in Trondheim 4 days where Podbike was awarded 2nd place on national level. Invited to and participated in the European Final in Tallin October 2016. EIT Climate-KIC is a Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC), working to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon economy. https://climatelaunchpad.org/finalists/podbike/.

Finalist in Petter Stordalen’s Start-up Competition2016- Awarded top 6 out of more than 1,000 applicants for the private initiative from Petter Anker Stordalen – a Norwegian billionaire businessman, investor, hotel and property developer and self-proclaimed environmentalist. Invited to pitch our business idea in Oslo in a competition for 1 mill NOK (in investment).
